This paper looks into the interrelation among four indicators namely population growth, longevity, educational attainment and standard of living. Using the notion of human development, this study examines that population growth, one more indicator, is required to include for the computation of gender-related and human development indices besides the existing three indicators. The index is computed by the existing formula and population growth index by new formula. Population growth index is subtracted from the index calculated by the existing formula to obtain the new gender-related and human development indices. The new indices give better estimates than the existing indices and have twin benefits.
