Mysore city is rapidly changing in its socio economic characteristics, and physical urban design on one hand; and on the other it is transforming from traditional to cosmopolitan.. There is a dire need for a systematic approach towards management of roads and safety.
Decision support system (DSS) needs to be the measure of planning in present times. DSS is applied to develop a transportation-planning model for Mysore city. The Nassar and Saccammano transportation model is used on excel spreadsheets. It is an interactive Systems model intended to help decision makers to compile useful information from raw data, to identify and solve decision problems. This model is a dynamic Simulation model based on various physical, socio-economic and administrative parameters that influence the road safety and traffic management. The simulation results are graphically represented as an interactive user interface for the managers responsible to make the final selection of parameters.
