Dr Hans-Martin Hinz

Hans-Martin Hinz completed his Doctorate at the Free University of Berlin. From 1985 he was Research Advisor to the Berlin Senate Cultural Affairs Administration, laying the groundwork for the German Historical Museum. From 1991 until 2000 he was Deputy Director at the Museum, was involved in organising new Berlin museums: the German-Russian Museum Berlin-Karlshorst, the Allied Museum and the Berlin Wall Memorial Site, and was a member of the German-French Expert Commission on the Repatriation of Cultural Patrimony through war. From 2000 he was Deputy Minister for Culture at the Berlin Senate Office of Science, Research and Culture. In 2002 he resumed his role as a member of the managing board of the German Historical Museum.
