Mr Raymond Charles Rauscher

I am a practitioner town planner specializing in environmental and community development. I have worked in Australian communities since completing master degree studies here in 1973, working in both city and regional settings. I am studying an urban growth centre, Wyong Shire local government area (where I live), 100km north of Sydney. Wyong Shire is part of the Greater Metropolitan Region (GMR)of Sydney/Illawarra/Central Coast/Newcastle with a population of over 5m and reaching 6m within 20 years. My research combines my work in the field under land care and environmental rehabilitation programs. I combine social planning skills with environmental education. My current aim is to critically analyse the planning procedures that are under extreme change and challenge within this GMR I'm hoping the research will illustrate how sustainable planning can be understood and used by the general community as well as authorities. I was born in NYC and came to Australia via serving in Vietnam (1966/67). I keep in touch with planning changes in neighborhoods I grew up in — Brooklyn in NYC and Long Island regions.
