  Journal Submission

  1. What are the steps involved in publishing a paper?
The publication process is as follows:
    1. Submit a proposal to the conference (in-person or virtual) before the next deadline.
    2. If your proposal is accepted by the conference advisory team, complete your registration as an in-person or virtual participant. You may submit your paper to the journal anytime between registration and one calendar month after the closing date of the conference.
    3. Once your paper is received, it is verified against template and submission requirements. Your identity and contact details are then removed and the paper is matched to two appropriate referees and sent for review. You can view the status of your paper at any time by logging into your CGPublisher account at www.CGPublisher.com.
    4. When referee reports are uploaded, you will be notified by email and provided with a link to view the reports (after the referees' identities have been removed).
    5. You will then be asked to accept the Publishing Agreement and submit a revised final copy of your paper.
    6. Your paper will be typeset and the proofs sent to you for final approval before publication.
    7. Papers are published continuously in the online bookstore. Registered conference participants will be given online access to the journal from the time of registration until one year after the conference end date. Individual papers will also be available for purchase from the journal’s bookstore.

  2. I can't attend the conference. How can I publish in the journal?
We also offer virtual registrations, which provide access to the full text of the electronic edition of the Journal for that year. A virtual registration also allows for virtual participation - submitting your paper as a virtual contribution listed under the Session Descriptions, participating as an Associate Editor in the referee process, and publishing in the Journal.
  3.
  4. How long will it take for my paper to get published in the journal?
The length of time varies, however, once your paper is received, your paper is verified against submission guidelines. If there are no problems found during verification the paper is then matched to two appropriate referees and sent for review (two week turnaround requested). Once the referee reports have been returned, we forward them on to you (with the referee identities removed). You are requested to return the complete paper for publication within another two weeks. Papers are accepted on a continuous basis, so your final paper will be published as soon as the publication process is completed (including typesetting and final approval), before or after the conference. This means that, if desired and submitted early enough, the paper can be fully refereed before the conference. This is of particular value to participants who require double-blind refereeing and confirmed publication before the conference (and in this case, we request submission at least three months before the commencement of the conference). As soon as registration has been finalised, papers can be submitted for refereeing. Once the entire publication process is finalised, your paper will be published in the journal, even if this is before the conference.
  5.
  6. Why must I use the CGCreator Microsoft Word Authoring Template?
When submitting your full paper you will need to follow our formal paper submission guidelines and format the paper using the recommended template. Full details can be found online at the Submission Guidelines page. Apologies for the high level of bureaucracy - we are dealing with a large number of paper submissions. Our administrative processes need to be quite strict in order to achieve a fast turnaround time.
  7.
  8. What reference style should I use?
You may use any referencing style you choose, as long as you use it consistently and to the appropriate bibliographical standards.
  9.
  10. What spelling standards should I follow?
Spelling can vary according to national usage but should be internally consistent.
  11.
  12. Would my paper on Caterpillars of the Laotian Rainforest be a suitable contribution to the conference and the journal?
Yes, of course it is—providing you use this topic to address the journal themes. There are two ways to find out whether your thinking is along the right lines. First, submit a proposal through the Call for Papers area of conference website. Then, second, if it is accepted, register for the conference (in person or virtual), and submit your full paper to the journal for refereeing. If the referees can't see the connection, then they will advise you what to do and suggest how you might make the connection, and if the very worst comes to the worst you can resubmit your paper after making revisions to address the referees concerns. The revised resubmitted paper will be sent to new referees. If you think the caterpillars paper could fit within the conference themes, for our administrative purposes we ask you to go through the full presentation proposal process. This process requests the information we need in a format suitable for publication on the conference website and in the conference abstracts book.
  13.
  14. What level of editorial support does the journal provide?
The journal relies on the authors and referees for editorial checking.
Authors are also required to use the CGCreator Microsoft Word Authoring Template.

  Visibility of Journal

  1. How is my article promoted?
All authors will receive access to the electronic edition of their article and all conference attendees will receive electronic access to the current volume of the journal. The journal is also listed in various academic databases and indexes—please visit this link for details. Each article has high Internet visibility, as it is sold in the journal bookstore and has its own web page providing background information on the paper and the author/s. Furthermore, the article will also be available for purchase on each author's Creator Site. When an author’s paper is published they are provided with a CGPublisher Creator Site—using the CGPublisher private interface, you are able to customise your Creator Site and add biographical details. For more information, please contact support+IJS@commongroundpublishing.com
  2.
  3. Can you tell me how many times my paper has been cited?
At this stage we are unable to provide citation statistics as the journal is relatively new. However, we envisage a high impact factor insofar as the journal is both part of the conventional world of academic publishing and highly visible in Google (unlike many traditional journals).
